What We Believe

null

The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LC-MS) was founded in North America in 1847 by German immigrants who brought their Lutheran heritage with them as they settled here. Today, the LC-MS has over 2.5 million members in America, and conducts missions in nearly 70 foreign countries. Lake Norman Lutheran Church is a part of the Charlotte area circuit and the Southeastern District of the LC-MS.

As Lutherans We Believe:

  • That the Holy Bible is the infallible and inerrant Word of God, and is the only source for Christian faith and doctrine.
  • That our God is one God in Three Persons, the FATHER who has created us, the SON who has redeemed us from all sin, and the HOLY SPIRIT who calls us to faith through the Word and continues to keep us in faith.
  • That we as humans live under the deadly consequences of sin, and are unable to win our own way back to God alone.
  • That Jesus is the divine Son of God, who took our place through His perfect life and by His death on the cross, to pay the punishment for our sins and win a place for us in heaven.
  • That we are saved solely by God's rich and lavish grace, through faith in Jesus and the promises of His Gospel.
  • That by Word and Sacrament, God the Holy Spirit created faith, nurtures faith, and enables us to live before God in righteousness and purity.
  • That we are called to be Christ's servants, serving Him and His Church in all we say and do, and we are called to bring more and more into His family of faith.

Holy Communion:

We believe that Christ Jesus invites baptized members of His church to attend Holy Communion in order to experience the forgiveness of sins which He earned for us on the cross. We believe that our Lord is truly present in this Sacrament. When we take part of this meal, we receive His Body and Blood in, with, and under the bread and wine. If this is also your faith, you are welcome to join us for Holy Communion.

Mission and Values

"Calm in the Chaos - Joy in Christ’s Presence"

VALUES

Our Lord teaches us to pray, praise and give thanks . . .

We pray for one another and for community needs, for those suffering or in any need, for those in authority.  We are confident our prayers are heard and answered because of the saving work of Jesus Christ.  Everyone's prayers are important - we want to include prayers from clergy and laity alike.  We hold events and activities to equip people for a life of prayer, starting with the Lord's Prayer.

Our Lord teaches us to commit to worship that matters . . .

Essentials of worship are the tangible ways God connects to us: Holy Baptism, Holy Communion, and the Bible.  Grace is the emphasis.  Excellence in our worship honors God and draws people to Him.  While Lutherans will find our worship familiar and reverent, services will be welcoming for all.

Our Lord teaches us to be a caring Christian community . . .

We practice caring for those in need.  Passionately following Jesus' teaching, we strive to see Him as we look to our neighbor.  When we see a need, we respond with compassion.

Our Lord teaches us to be a congregation of generous Christians . . .

We value God-directed giving of our time and financial resources.  As individuals and families we strive to practice percentage giving of our finances to support LNLC ministries and beyond.  We seek to use the gift of our time and abilities to make better the Lake Norman community our neighbors as well as our world.  We go to the Bible for the best ways to do these things.

Our Lord calls us to follow Him and make disciples. . .

We believe the truth of God's teachings and His story of salvation which is the Bible.  We value knowledge of the Bible and its applications for life.  We seek to be life-long learners.
