What to Expect

Welcome to Lake Norman Lutheran Church's website. If you are new to the area, we're glad that you're here! Below are some general questions that you may have about your first visit to our church. We look forward to the opportunity of worshiping and serving together.

WHAT IS THE STYLE OF WORSHIP AT LAKE NORMAN LUTHERAN?

We worship every Sunday at 8:30AM and 11AM. The services are identical, with Communion observed at the 8:30AM service on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month; Communion observed at the 11AM service on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. The musical style of our Sunday services is mainly Traditional from our hymnal, but we also enjoy adding in modern music.

CAN I TAKE COMMUNION?

We believe that Christ Jesus invites baptized members of His church to attend Holy Communion in order to experience the foregiveness of sins which He earned for us on the cross. We believe that our Lord is truly present in this Sacrament. When we take part of this meal, we receive His Body and Blood in, with, and under the bread and wine. If this is also your faith, you are welcome to join us for Holy Communion.

ARE THE MAIN PARTS OF THE CHURCH EASILY ACCESSIBLE?

We have wheelchair-accessible parking spaces, a ramp that provides easy access into our sanctuary, as well as our fellowship hall and restrooms. Our Sunday worship bulletins are offered in a large-print format for the visually impaired. We also have hearing devices available.

ARE CHILDREN INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN WORSHIP?

Children are always invited to participate in worship at Lake Norman Lutheran. We always encourage parents to bring their children to worship. A children's message is offered during each service, and Sunday School is held at 9:45AM in the lower level throughout the school year. We also have activity items for children to take into worship with them. If your child becomes restless during worship, you are more than welcome to take them into the narthex, where the service is piped in and a viewing window is provided. Or, for children aged 4 and under, our nursery is located on the lower level from the narthex.

HOW LONG IS WORSHIP AND SUNDAY SCHOOL?

At Lake Norman Lutheran, worship services last about an hour. Sunday School lasts about 45 minutes.

WHAT DOES LAKE NORMAN LUTHERAN BELIEVE?

Lutherans get their name from Martin Luther, a German priest who was excommunicated from the Roman Catholic Church in the early 1500s. Luther's writing and teaching sparked the Protestant Reformation. The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three short phrases: Grace Alone, Scripture Alone and Faith Alone. Read more about Our Beliefs here.
